Make & Take: Pikake Forever Lei — Straight Stringing
String your own forever lei in one sitting. This Make and Take Saturday, our team will teach you the straight stringing technique — the simplest, most satisfying way to build a necklace from scratch. No crimps, no wire, no tools. Just beads, thread, and your two hands. Choose from two pikake necklace kits, each inspired by the flower lei tradition. The Ho'onani pairs warm sandalwood beads with hand-carved mother-of-pearl pikake buds — classic, luminous, meant to be worn daily. The Uluwehi swaps in green and cream resin pikake for a fresh, garden-inspired look that feels like spring year-round. The lesson is free with any kit purchase. Walk in between 3 and 6 PM, sit down at the beading table, and leave wearing a lei you made with your own hands.

Amethyst February Birthstone Live
Years ago, a customer walked into The Bead Gallery and pressed an amethyst palm stone into Jamie's hand. Cool, smooth, heavy enough to mean something. It went on the bathroom counter that night and stayed there for years -- a nightly ritual of holding, breathing, settling down. No intention, no ceremony. Just a purple stone and the quiet it carried. That is what amethyst does. The ancient Greeks named it amethystos -- "the one who is not drunk" -- because they believed it could still a restless mind. They carved drinking vessels from it. Leonardo da Vinci wrote that it sharpened intelligence. Bishops wore it on their rings. For twenty-five centuries, the same stone has been reaching for the same thing: calm the noise, find the clarity, hold steady. This collection is thirteen pieces of that energy.
