After studying Astrology with Alice Inoue years ago, talking about our "signs" became a fun way to meet new customers and chat about general traits in myself and others, and neat ways of finding commonalities :) I put together a small gathering of information about Aquarians here, with links to outside references that I found helpful! When making a birthday gift for a friend, or a piece of jewelry for yourself, you can use this as a starting point for what to pick and what may suit an Aquarius!
In astrology, Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac, considered as governing the period from about January 20 to about February 18, and originating from the constellation Aquarius. Aquarians at best are humanitarian, concerned for other's welfare, progressive, inventive, creative, freedom-loving and individual.
This symbol is the "water carrier", so imagine all the water washing away negativity, the past and optimistic about the future. My dad is an Aquarian, and one thing that distinctly stands out about him that I can link to these qualities, is that I've never heard him speak poorly or negatively about anyone, ever. LOL, now a bunch of Aquarians may be out there thinking... wait, that's not true.. I'm an Aquarian and I'm not like that.. but then.. that's something you could work on! :)
Stubbornness and an unchanging mind is also an Aquarian trait - so we hope that these socially conscious, beginning-of-the-year babies, take that skill and blaze a trail for making the world a better place as head into the Age of Aquarius.
I found this to be interesting on this site: For the next 2000 years we will be in the Aquarian Age. We have been in the transition from the Piscean Age to the Aquarian Age for the last 50 years. During this age, the focus is no longer on your identity and existence (“to be or not to be”), but on accepting yourself as a whole person (“be to be”) who does not need to believe in something outside of yourself.
These lyrics from the song, "Age of Aquarius", can perhaps best describe the nature of the Aquarius baby:
"Harmony and understanding Sympathy and trust abounding No more falsehoods or derisions Golden living dreams of visions LET THE SUN SHINE IN! "
Here's my off the cuff, free-form jewelry design thoughts for an Aquarius:
- First one that comes to mind - using a FISH symbol or charm to represent this sign and the connection to water of refreshing and renewal - the water bearer or the water carrier.
- Experiment with the feng shui WATER colors: blues, aquas and black
- Appeal to the "air" nature of the Aquarius by using unexpected color combos, or a striking pop of one color to contrast with the rest.
- Option: Add in smoky quartz to balance the "air" element with a sense of grounding.
- Option: Add aquamarine, larimar or amazonite blues for the water element
- Option: Add black tourmaline, black agate or black spinel (anything black) to provide grounding and stability to balance the chaos.
- Last thought, to calm the busy mind of this air element, water bearing sign, you can use a combo of aquamarine and turquoise to calm and steady - with the balance of a transparent and opaque together in very similar shades, wow! ;)
Lucky Stones: Opal and Aquamarine, and SILVER is also a good luck charm and wards off negativity as a natural neutralizer. Read more about the power of silver here. I found it really interesting!
Lucky Color: Blue, Blue-Greens, Grey and Black
I like this color recommendation from Astrospeak: Colours which are not the conventional colours but an outlandish mixture of two or more of such shades -which defy a name, a definition and can be called the "new generation colours" are aquarian colours.
Element: Air
Birthstones: The January birthstone is Garnet and February's birthstone is Amethyst.
Other Suggested Gemstones: Blue Topaz, Lapis, Sapphire, Kyanite and any clear blue stone. Aquarius are socially gifted and great talkers- with a positive focus on group work and communication! They have a focus on humanitarianism and an interest in collaborating to make this world a better place!
NOTE about Zodiac Recommendations:
Reading about our astrological signs - a way of recognizing the grouping of stars that were in the sky at the time we were born, is fun and insightful! It's an entertaining and meaningful generalization that can give us a glimpse of a person's BASIC characteristics, preferences, flaws and fears. At different times and situations in my life, I can associate myself with qualities emphasized in EACH of the signs, and it's a very cool way of bringing about an awareness and making me THINK and pay attention to myself and my life and the people around me! The very same way that I use beads to express myself and give me time to reflect and appreciate and heal.
