Turquoise

Turquoise is one of our favorite gemstones, and we're sharing a LOT of our Sleeping Beauty stash!  We have Chinese, Tibetan and our favorites: North American Turquoise with shades from robin's egg blue, to a deep rich green!

mine stopped in August 2012 making it harder to source every successive year. The mine was closed to focus on copper extraction which is more cost-effective than the
turquoise. What??? :).  The rise in cost for this particular turquoise is due to the limited supply of an amazing Tiffany blue color that is in high demand from American, Asian and European jewelers!

We've got beads, strands, and kits... we have so much turquoise to show that what's on this list isn't even everything we have in the store! 

According to GIA: "Turquoise is found in only a few places on earth: dry and barren regions where acidic, copper-rich groundwater seeps downward and reacts with minerals that contain phosphorus and aluminum. The result of this sedimentary process is a porous, semitranslucent to opaque compound of hydrated copper and aluminum phosphate."

In a spiritual sense, turquoise is a positive stone and helps one gather friends. It also helps promote leadership and protects against loss, and we like to see it as the Vitamin C of stones - keeping us powered up and strengthened for daily life!
